Superb cup pewter triskel decorated with a relief
The triskele, or also spelled triskell triskel although appeared in various cultures and at different times is considered an important characteristic of Celtic art in theLa Tene period (second Iron Age II Ve-BC)
In Celtic mythology it can represent the three main gods: Lugh, the primordial god, the Dagda and Ogma. It also refers to the Trinitarian nature of the uniquegoddess (daughter, mother and wife) or the sun gear (attribute of the Dagda).
It can also symbolize the three elements: earth, fire and water and not water, earth, fire and air (the concept of air being by far its contemporary origins).
It can also represent the continuity of the passage of time: past-present-future, or all three stages of life (youth, middle age, old age) or be representative of the"Three Worlds": the world of the living, the World of the Dead and the Spirit World
This cup is not only decorative but was treated so it can be used to drink daily
